Big6 Research Model
Task - Create a Smartboard presentation that tells about the life of your selected author. Please include the following information: - Tell when your author was born and when your author died.
- Describe your author's childhood.
- Tell what inspired your author to become a writer.
- Describe some of your author's writings/books.
- How does your life compare with the life of your selected author?
- How has your selected author made an impact on your life?
You may use a graphic organizer to plan your thoughts before you start your research. Information Seeking Strategies - Please use the websites provided by me, an encyclopedia, the school reference databases, and the reference series - Favorite Children's Authors and Illustrators.
Locate and Access - Click on the following websites to obtain information about famous authors.

Also use the World Book Encyclopedia, the New Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia, or Favorite Children's Authors and Illustrators. These books are located behind the check-out desk.
Don't forget to use the school reference databases (Kidsinfobit, Infotrac Jr., Biography Resource Center, Bigchalk E-Library, and Grolier On-Line).
Use Information - Read and take notes from all sources. Make sure you write down when and where you obtained your information. You will be creating a bibliography. Click here to learn how to create a bibliography.
Synthesis -Put all you information together and start to make your presentation.
Evaluation -When you have completed your project, you will receive an evaluation rubric. Complete the evaluation rubric and be prepared to discuss the following questions:
- What did you learn from working on this webquest?
- Did you do your best work on this presentation?
- Did you work well with your partner?
- Is there something you could do better on your next presentation?
- What was your favorite part of this presentation?
